Ingredients

  • 1 lb thinly sliced steak
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 large 16 oz pizza dough
  • ½ cup sliced bell peppers
  • ½ cup caramelized onions
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg for egg wash

Instructions

Prepare the Filling:

  • Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add onions, garlic, and bell peppers, and sauté for 8-10 minutes until caramelized.
  • In the same pan, cook the steak, seasoning with salt and pepper, until browned.
  • Combine the steak and vegetables and set aside.

Roll Out the Dough:

  • On a lightly floured surface, roll the pizza dough into a 12x16-inch rectangle.

Assemble the Stromboli:

  • Spread the steak and vegetable mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top of the filling.
  • Roll the dough tightly like a jelly roll and tuck in the ends.

Bake:

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Transfer the stromboli to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Brush the top with egg wash and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool and Slice:

  • Let the stromboli cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • You can use store-bought pizza dough for convenience.
  • Add provolone or cheddar for a richer flavor.
  • Avoid soggy crust by ensuring the filling is not too wet.
