Ingredients

  • 1 large pizza dough sheet
  • 1 lb thinly sliced steak ribeye or sirloin works well
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 medium onion thinly sliced
  • 1 medium bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon water to mix with egg wash
  • Optional: marinara sauce for dipping

Method

1- Preheat the Oven
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2- Cook the Filling
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced onions and bell peppers and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
3- Add Steak and Seasoning
  1. Stir in the minced garlic and sliced steak. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook until the steak is fully browned. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
4- Prepare the Dough
  1. Place pizza dough on a lightly floured surface and roll it into a large rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
5- Add the Filling
  1. Spread the steak and vegetable mixture evenly over the dough, leaving about 1 inch around the edges. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the filling.
6-Roll the Stromboli
  1. Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log shape. Pinch the seams closed and tuck the ends underneath.
7- Transfer to Baking Sheet
  1. Place the rolled Stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
8- Brush with Egg Wash
  1. Beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water and brush the mixture over the top of the dough.
9- Bake
  1. Bake for 20–25 minutes until the crust becomes golden brown.
10- Cool and Slice
  1. Allow the Stromboli to rest for about 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with marinara sauce if desired.

Notes

Notes

  • Drain excess liquid from the steak mixture before adding it to the dough to prevent a soggy crust.
  • You can substitute provolone cheese for part of the mozzarella for extra flavor.
  • For a spicy variation, add sliced jalapeños or crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Let the Stromboli rest before cutting so the cheese can set slightly.
