Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast cut into strips
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Method

Prepare the Chicken
  1. Slice the chicken breasts into evenly sized strips.
Make the Egg Mixture
  1. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until smooth.
Prepare the Coating
  1. In another bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper.
Coat the Chicken
  1. Dip each chicken strip into the egg mixture, then dredge it in the flour mixture until fully coated.
Heat the Oil
  1. Pour vegetable oil into a deep skillet and heat over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
Fry the Chicken
  1. Carefully place the coated chicken strips into the hot oil. Fry for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
Drain Excess Oil
  1. Remove the fried chicken strips and place them on paper towels or a wire rack to drain excess oil.
Serve
  1. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces such as ketchup, honey mustard, or ranch dressing.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the pan when frying; cook in batches if necessary.
  • Maintain consistent oil temperature to keep the coating crispy.
  • You can marinate the chicken in buttermilk for 30 minutes for extra tenderness.
  • An air fryer can also be used for a lighter version.
