Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk 110°F
  • 1/4 cup butter softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions
 

Prepare the Dough

  • In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add eggs to the yeast mixture and combine with dry ingredients. Knead in the butter until dough is smooth and elastic (5-7 minutes by hand or 3-5 minutes with a mixer).
  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.

Shape the Donuts

  • Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface to 1/2-inch thickness.
  • Cut donuts using a donut cutter, then let them rest for 15-20 minutes.

Fry the Donuts

  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot to 350°F.
  • Fry donuts in batches, 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels or a wire rack.

Glaze or Top as Desired

  • While warm, dip donuts in your preferred glaze or sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is warm but not too hot to avoid killing the yeast.
  • Allow enough time for the dough to rise for the fluffiest results.
