Ingredients

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or any melting cheese
  • 1/4 cup milk or cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional garnish: chopped parsley or chives

Instructions

Cook the rice:

  • In a medium saucepan, bring the broth to a boil. Add the rice, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15–20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.

Make it cheesy:

  • Once the rice is cooked, stir in the butter, milk, and garlic powder.

Add the cheese:

  • Gradually fold in the shredded cheese, stirring until fully melted and creamy.

Season:

  • Add salt and pepper to taste.

Serve:

  • Garnish with parsley or chives and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use vegetable broth for a vegetarian option.
  • Substitute cheddar with mozzarella or a blend of cheeses for different flavor profiles.
  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne or red chili flakes.
