Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb beef round steak
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp thyme or rosemary

Method
 

  1. 1 Pat steak dry and season with salt and pepper
  2. 2 Heat oil in skillet and sear steak on both sides
  3. 3 Remove steak and cook onions and garlic in same pan
  4. 4 Add broth and herbs then return steak to pan
  5. 5 Cover and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes
  6. 6 Rest steak before slicing and serve with sauce

Notes

Cook slowly for best tenderness
Slice against the grain for soft texture
Add extra broth if needed during cooking
