Ingredients
  

  • cups all purpose flour
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ cup butter softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup sliced almonds

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F or 175°C.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Add egg and almond extract and mix well.
  5. In another bowl mix flour baking powder and salt.
  6. Combine dry ingredients with wet ingredients to form dough.
  7. Roll dough into small balls and place on baking sheet.
  8. Flatten slightly and top with sliced almonds.
  9. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until golden.
  10. Allow cookies to cool before serving.

Notes

Use room temperature butter for best texture.
Do not overbake to keep cookies soft inside.
Add chocolate chips for variation.
